PCG to transport donated COVID-19 supplies to 'Auring' victims in Mindanao

Donations for victims of typhoon 'Auring' onslaught in Mindanao have started to pour in, including supplies to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Philippine Coast Guard said on Thursday.

The PCG, through Captain Christine Pauline Diciano, has received boxes of COVID-19 supplies from the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and the PCG Auxiliary 110th Squadron on Wednesday, March 3.

The donations are composed of 5,000 pairs of disposable gloves, 20,000 pieces of face masks, 3,000 pieces of KN95 masks, 10 units of thermal scanner, and 100 pieces of goggles.

The PCG said it will be transported to typhoon-hit municipalities in Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur to support their recovery and uphold public health amid the pandemic.

On Monday, March 1, the Coast Guard delivered at least 11 sacks of rice for the affected families in Surigao City, which was donated by the Metro Davao Medical and Research Center (MDMRC).
