“Mahalin po natin ang ating sarili at ang ating pamilya, magpabakuna, labanan ang COVID-19 (Let us love ourselves including our family and have immunization against the COVID-19),” Olivarez told the city residents.

The local chief executive said that the long-awaited vaccines against COVID-19 have finally arrived in the country and the city government will start administering the vaccines to all residents for free.

He said the vaccination will be carried out jointly by the Department of Health (DOH) and the City Health Office and the schedule of priorities laid down by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will be followed.

In erasing fear to be inoculated, the mayor said the vaccines have been proven very effective, with Israel reporting that its vaccination program has shown 96 percent success in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Olivarez also said the city government procured vaccines from the most prestigious manufacturers in the world to ensure the safety of the residents.

The mayor is encouraging every Paraqueño, especially senior citizens, those with comorbidities, and other vulnerable sectors of society, including frontliners and uniformed personnel to take advantage of the opportunity and be vaccinated.

“We owe our children and our loved ones the duty to get vaccinated because this will help stop the transmission of this deadly disease. This is our moral duty and responsibility to our families, to our communities, and to our city and country,” Olivarez said.
