Coast Guard working dog ‘Cali’ helps seize P340K worth of shabu

Not all heroes wear capes, some of them just have a keen sense of smell-- and and have paws.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) working dog “Cali” has detected illegal drugs known as “shabu” with an estimated worth of P340,000 inside a plastic package in Zamboanga City.

In a statement, the PCG said the confiscated illegal drugs weighed 50 grams and is set to be smuggled through a passenger ferry. The plan, however, was foiled with the help of 'Cali'.

The Coast Guard said the illegal items were inside a plastic package owned by a 39-year-old passenger and a resident of Barangay Guiwan, Zamboanga City.

It added that the confiscated illegal drugs and its owner were properly turned-over to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Zamboanga Police Station and subsequently brought to the Crime Laboratory for further investigation and proper disposition.
