Two NAIA passengers lose wallets full of cash, but PCG officers become their 'angels'

Two Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel recently showed admirable honesty by helping return two lost wallets--both filled with thousands worth of pesos--to two Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) passengers.

Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) Teodelyn Reyes had just arrived from Saudi Arabia last January when he accidentally left his wallet at the NAIA Terminal 2.

Among those inside his wallet was $3,700 or ₱180,000 in cash. PCG officer Denrieve John Sajili was making rounds in the area when he found the wallet.

He immediately turned it over to the airport lost and found section, which later noted that the wallet contained a large amount of the money. ”Sobrang nagpapasalamat ako sa Philippine Coast Guard lalo na kay Sir Denrieve John Sajili sa pagkakapulot niya ng akin wallet (I thank the Philippine Coast Guard especially Sir Denrieve John Sajili for recovering my wallet)," the relieved Reyes said after the item was returned to him.

The money was his savings from working abroad. In a separate incident, another PCG officer in Jefferson Cayabo recently found a lost wallet containing 115,000 Japanese Yen, or roughly P53,000.

The wallet turned out to be owned by Japanese National Mr. Kaoru Shimazaki, who also arrived in the Philippines from Narita, Japan via NAIA Terminal 2.

A very impressed and happy Shimazaki personally thanked Cayabo for his good deed.
