The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was recognized for its support to tourism initiatives amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a letter of appreciation, the Department of Tourism (DOT) expressed its gratitude to PCG officers of BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402) for providing safe sea transport to and from the Coast Guard stations in Port Area, Manila and Corregidor despite moderate to rough sea condition last Feb. 18.
“Our sincerest appreciation to the entire fleet of BRP Malabrigo (MRRV-4402) led by the indefatigable Commander Cristy Cabuyaban for a smooth sail to and from the PCG Station at the Port Area Manila and Corregidor, albeit some strong currents that afternoon of 18th February 2021,” the department said.
The DOT also acknowledged the assistance of Coast Guard Public Affairs Acting Commander, PCG spokesperson Commodore Armando Balilo and Coast Guard District NCR - Central Luzon Commander, Commodore Charlie Rances who contributed to the smooth facilitation of said initiative.
The letter signed by DOT - NCR Regional Director Woodrow Maquiling Jr., DOT - CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Director Michael Palispis, and DOT - Central Luzon Regional Director Carolina Uy was received by PCG Commandant, Admiral George Ursabia Jr on February 22.
