President Duterte said Vice President Leni Robredo has an angel’s face but a mind of the devil as he accused her of baiting him to say things about the vaccination program against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that would incriminate him.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte

Duterte made the statement after Robredo suggested that the President should be the first to be inoculated to encourage the people to get the vaccine jab.

In his weekly public address on Monday, Duterte said Robredo was making such statements because she was probably thinking that he was already vaccinated.

“Mahirap kasi ‘yang ano mo. You are baiting me. Alam mo kung bakit? Nagdududa ka kasi na nagpabakuna na ako kasama ng mga sundalo (What’s wrong with you is you’re baiting me. You have this doubt that I was already vaccinated along with the soldiers),” he said.

“You seem to have an angel face but a devilish mind. ‘Yang pagduda mo kasi tapos na ako kaya (You think that I was already vaccinated that’s why) you want me to go into a trap of saying things that are not appropriate,” he added.

Duterte invited Robredo to be present when his turn to be vaccinated comes.

“Ngayon gusto ko pag mag-injection ko gusto ko nandiyan ka dito sa Malacañang (Now when they are vaccinating me, I want you to be here in Malacañang),” he said.

“Sabihin ko, ‘Matanda naman ako, kalahati lang akin. Ikastada mo yung pu–‘ Doon iturok sa iyo (I’ll tell them that since I am old, they should give me just have of the dose and the other half to be given to you through your–). To add protection to your good health,” he added.

According to President Duterte, Robredo was making such remarks because she wanted her 15 seconds of fame.

“Ikaw, sige ka salita diyan wala ka namang ginagawa. Sige ka issue-issue ng statement (You keep on talking yet you’re not doing anything. You keep on issuing these statements). You know what? Because you want to be relevant here,” Duterte said.

On Sunday, Duterte said Robredo should get vaccinated with the CoronaVac first if she was in a hurry because he was still waiting for the go-signal from his doctor.
