Filipino star midlaner Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop is set for a return to the Southeast Asia region.

That’s because Abed and the Evil Geniuses secured their spot in the Singapore Major after ruling the three-way tiebreaker at the top of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC)-North America Upper Division on Monday, March 1 (Manila time).

Abed, the first 11K MMR player in the world, powered EG to a smashing 24-3 victory over Undying as his Storm Spirit went perfect with eight kills and 11 assists in just 31 minutes.

The TI5-winning organization then leaned on Abed’s fellow 11K MMR carry Artour “Arteezy” Babaev’s monstrous Alchemist who came through with 15 kills and 11 assists with no deaths in a vengeful 35-22 win against Quincy Crew in 38 minutes.

With the back-to-back triumphs, EG nabbed a ticket to the group stage of the first Dota 2 Major tournament of 2021 which will be hosted ONE Esports and PGL on March 27 to April 4.

The Quinn “Quinn” Callahan (also known as CCnC) and Yawar “YawaR” Hassan-led QC then crushed David “MoonMeander” Tan’s Undying, 41-13, in 50 minutes to get the Major wild card seat.

At the end of the eight-week regional league, EG, Quincy Crew and Undying all tallied a 6-1 record resulting in the round robin, three-team tiebreaker played under a best-of-one format.

EG swept Undying, 2-0, QC stunned EG, 2-1, and Undying upset QC, 2-1, during the league proper.

Still, it was EG that emerged as the king of the NA region at the conclusion of the first DPC season this year.
