Comedian Ate Gay is happy that his problem concerning uncollected fees from a major broadcast network has been settled.
"Nabayaran na lahat. Last April ko pa kasi yun kinokolekta, eh 2021 na ngayon," said Ate Gay in reference to the uncollected fees from three television shows during an interview at the presscon of his comedy film "Ayuda Babes" in Quezon City recently.
"Noong nag-ingay ako sa Twitter, ayun, pinadala agad sa GCash. Nainis na rin kasi ako noon."
The Original Mash-Up Queen explained that his tweets were not meant to put the image of the television network in a bad light.
"Wala akong intensyon na siraan sila at saka karapatan ko naman maningil. Dapat pa nga matuwa ang network para malaman nila na may mga mababagal silang empleyado," he added.
When told he may not be invited again to the network because of his tweets, Ate Gay said: "Ganun talaga. Wala na akong magagawa roon."
Ate Gay said that the movie "Ayuda Babes" looks at various situations during the pandemic in a comic way. It is produced by Saranggola Media Productions, Inc. At the height of lockdown in 2020, Ate Gay said that he got busy with his food business called "Siomai Himala."
"Wala kasi akong magawa noon at saka hindi rin makalabas ang mga tao kaya nagtayo ako ng business sa Tondo. Noong natapos na ang ECQ (enhanced community quarantine), hindi ko na rin tinuloy yung siomai business."
Aside from Ate Gay, "Ayuda Babes" stars TikTok King Gardo Verzosa, theater stalwart Joey Paras, Cinema One Best Actress for “Mamu Is A Mother Too” Iyah Mina, It’s Showtime Miss Q and A First Season Queen, Juliana Porizcova Segovia, comedy bar hosts, performers and vloggers Negi, Brenda Mage, Petite Brockovich, and Berni Batin.
Completing the cast are Bubble Gum Pop Princess and YouTuber Christi Fider (singer of Teka, Teka, Teka), HashTag hunk Zeus Collins, Bidaman Dan Delgado, with the special participation of actor and heartthrob Marlo Mortel, and Marc Logan.
“Aside from its entertainment value and making people feel good and laugh, this movie is my modest tribute to the courage, tenacity, never say die and the survivor that is in every Filipino who by the grace of God, always faces every crisis head on and manages to rise above it, even laugh about it," said Director Joven Tan.
"The quarantine that we are all and the pandemic brought about by the COVID-19 is a year old and yes we all experienced periods of anxiety and even depression, but we still count our blessings, thankful for what we have and smile."
"We take things seriously but we still manage to enjoy our lives, our family, and this is what the movie highlights and presents in the funniest of situations," Joven added.
Asked who among the comedians stood out in the film, Joven laughed and said: "Si Gardo Verzosa siyempre. Pero lahat naman sila magaling!"
Direk Joven also said that health protocols were in place during the shooting of the film.
With an assembly whose composition is made up of standup comedians, comedy bar hosts, concert performers, singers, vloggers, a best actress winner and a seasoned character actor who are all in this Filipino comedic film, parodies are surely an expected ingredient from the talented cast.
