DFA: 18 new COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad; total now at 14,896


Eighteen more coronavirus disease cases were recorded among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total tally to 14,896, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The DFA said the total number of deaths from COVID-19 also climbed to 1,018 after two more overseas Filipinos died of the infectious disease.

It also tallied 9,379 recoveries or those discharged, an increase of 13 from the previous 9,366 Filipinos who have recovered.

To date, there are 4,499 active cases undergoing treatment.

According to the DFA, the total number of countries and territories where Filipinos got infected with SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, remained at 87.

The Middle East/Africa still topped the region with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos abroad at 8,131.

This was followed by Europe with 2,967 infections, Asia Pacific Region with 2,925 cases, and the Americas, 873.
