TINGLAYAN, Kalinga – Authorities destroyed and burned P7.9-million worth of dried marijuana leaves and fully grown plants which they discovered in five sites following a two-day operation in the hinterlands of Barangay Loccong here.
Kalinga Police Provincial director Police Col. Davy Limmong said elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Philippine National Police (PNP) were implementing “Oplan: Stinkweeds” when they discovered the marijuana leaves and plants.
They started their search operation on Feb. 24 but they only discovered the plantation at 10:30 a.m. the following day.
Found at Site 1 with a land area of 800 square meters were 6,400 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P1,280,000.
Thirty minutes later, the team discovered another adjacent plantation with a land area of 550 square meters and planted with 4,400 fully grown marijuana plants with a value of P880,000.
Two hours after, they discovered Site 3 with a land area of 600 square meters planted with 4,800 fully grown marijuana plants worth P960,000.
At 2:30 p.m., they discovered Site 4 with a land area of 600 square meters planted with 6,000 fully grown marijuana plants worth P1,200,000.
The biggest find was recorded at 4 p.m. when they discovered 30 kilos of dried marijuana leaves valued at P3,600,000 and another kilo of marijuana seeds worth P25,000.
In all, they destroyed 21,600 fully grown marijuana plants and 30 kilos of dried leaves.
