Laborer plunges to death in Pangasinan


ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan – A 35-year-old laborer was electrocuted and plunged to his death from the rooftop of a gymnasium under construction in Barangay Tangcarang here Thursday.

Police Major Arturo Melchor, Pangasinan police spokesperson, identified the victim as Rick Catillano of Barangay Liwa-Liwa, Bolinao, this province.

According to the Alaminos police, the victim fell slipped from the rooftop of a gymnasium under construction. Catillano hung on to a live wire, was electrocuted, and landed on the concrete ground, case investigator Police Senior Master Sgt. Gerald J. Mamanta said.

Catillano was taken to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital where he pronounced dead-on-arrival by Dr. Al Bryan Flores. 

Meanwhile, a businesswoman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen as she was about to enter her house in Purok 4, Barangay Sancagulis, Bayambang, Pangasinan Wednesday. 

Police said victim Alpha Cayabyab died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds in the body. 

The victim had just got off her Yamaha Mio motorcycle and was entering her house when motorcycle-riding armed men shot her several times at 7:10 p.m. 

Bayambang police conducted a pursuit operation against the suspects.
