DOH records 2,269 new COVID-19 cases


The Department of Health (DOH) recorded Thursday, Feb. 25,  2,269 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), pushing the nationwide count to 568,680 

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said 738 patients recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 524,042. The recovery rate was at 92.2 percent.

The case bulletin showed that 32, 437 or  5.7 percent of the the total number of COVID-19 cases were still active cases. 

The DOH said the COVID-19 death toll in the country increased to 12,201 or by 2.15 percent after 72 new fatalities were included in the nationwide count.

The Health department said eight duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, five were recoveries.

"In addition, one case was found to have tested negative and have been removed from the total case count,” it said. 

"Moreover, 12 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” 

The DOH noted that three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on Feb. 24.
