Shooting incident reported on Commonwealth Ave. in Quezon City

A shooting incident transpired on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday night, police confirmed.

Batasan Police Station chief Lt. Col. Romulus Gadaoni told reporters in a phone interview that the incident came after a buy-bust operation.

Witnesses in the area said they heard an exchange of fires at around 6 p.m.

Kim Ian Acosta, a motorcycle rider stuck in the area as the traffic was at a standstill, said the shooting happened in front of a fastfood restaurant.

At 7:08 p.m., the QCPD said that top officials of the QCPD and the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency “are on the site” already.

Ever Gotesco Mall-Commonwealth, which was located near the scene, said in a statement that has already “secured all access to the mall so all shoppers are safe inside.”

“Our priority right now is to ensure the safety of the employees and the public. The management is closely coordinating with the PNP (Philippine National Police) of the current situation,” it added.
