Cavite to host Agoncillo, Batangas evacuees in case Taal Volcano activity worsens


CAVITE - Agoncillo, Batangas Mayor Daniel D. Reyes met with Cavite mayors and Governor Jonvic C. Remulla on Tuesday (Feb. 23) to discuss possible evacuation arrangements in case Taal Volcano activity escalates.

In a Facebook post, Reyes said the Municipality of Mendez-Nuñez, through Mayor Eric A. Vida, expressed willingness to welcome Agoncillo evacuees if need be.

Cavite earlier opened its doors to evacuees from its neighboring province when Taal Volcano erupted in January 2020.

According to the latest bulletin by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1 on Wednesday (Feb. 24), after recording one volcanic earthquake and two tremor episodes over the past 24-hour period before the bulletin was released.
