5 parolees released from Davao prison

Five more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) who had been granted parole have been released from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF).

In a statement, the DPPF said the PDLs were released last Thursday, February 18.  They were part of the eight PDLs who had been issued certificates of discharge from prison.

It said that before their release, the eight PDLs underwent testing for the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) that was conducted by the DPFF’s Health and Medical Services Section. “The results were negative,” it added.

“Under the command of the Regional Superintendent of Davao Prison and Penal Farm CCSupt. Julie May C. Taguiam, the computations of GCTA (good conduct time allowance) and CPI (credit preventive imprisonment) were done expeditiously but with the accuracy to address the release of PDLs who are already qualified,” the DPPF said.

The Officers of Prison Overseer Office headed by CSInsp. Redentor S. Roque facilitated the release of PDLs with gratuity and transportation allowance from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

Of those freed, one is a female parolee of the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) Mindanao, it said.
