1,000 chickens worth P500,000 stolen from poultry farm in Pangasinan


VILLASIS, Pangasinan (PNA) – Almost 1,000 chickens were stolen from a poultry farm in Barangay La Paz here Sunday and five former employees are persons of interest in the theft case.

In an interview Monday, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office information officer Police Major Arturo Melchor II said the farm reported that almost 1,000 chickens were missing after it was discovered that a gate in one of the chicken housings was opened. “The chickens’ value amounted to more or less than P500,000,” he said.

 Melchor said farm workers also saw scattered feathers at the back portion of the housing, which could be the exit route of the culprits.

He said police probers are gathering information from witnesses.

“The persons of interest are former employees at the farm,” he said, adding they are not yet considered suspects.  “The police will also review closed-circuit television camera footages to aid the investigation,” he added.
