PVL teams appeal new date for Open Conference

Premier Volleyball League teams are requesting organizers to move the Open Conference competition date to May 8 to give more time for training.

Organizer Sports Vision President Ricky Palou said they are discussing this possibility since participating squads have yet to resume their training.

“Some of the teams requested this because they are worried that if the opening of the tournament is rushed, players may get injuries,” Palou said.

The Open Conference is tentatively set April 10 under a bubble-type setting inside the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.

Palou earlier said the ideal amount of time to prepare for the competition would be at least three months.

Games and Amusements Board (GAB) has already cleared three training venues for the squads last week and is only waiting for the teams to submit their clearances from respective local government units to start training.

“Once the teams submit these (permits), they will be allowed to resume training,” Palou said.

The league has proposed Creamline, Choco Mucho and Perlas to train at Ronac Gym, while newcomer Peak Form is being eyed to train at Greenhills West Gym.

Petro Gazz will train at The Arena.

Cignal, PLDT and BaliPure have yet to choose their training venues.
