Coast Guard suspends sea trips to Cebu


BACOLOD CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard suspended trips to Cebu City from three cities in Negros Occidental Saturday due to tropical storm “Auring.”

In a sea travel advisory, Capt. Ludovico Librilla Jr., PCG-Negros Occidental acting station commander, suspended trips from San Carlos City to Toledo City, Cebu and Sagay City and Escalante City to Tabuelan, Cebu and vice-versa.

Roll-on and roll-off (Roro) vessels here continued their trips despite a gale warning, according to the Coast Guard.

Some fastcraft vessels were allowed to sail. However, they cancelled their trips starting 9 a.m. for safety reasons. All vessels below 250 gross tonnage were not allowed to sail.

No stranded passengers were reported in seaports here.
