Drug peddler killed, 15 others arrested in Bulacan buy-bust ops


CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan -- A suspected drug peddler was killed and 15 others were arrested in separate buy-bust operations conducted by Bulacan police in this province on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19.

Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe, Bulacan police director, identified the slain drug suspect as Hermedelio Dela Cruz Mangcoy alias "Kharim/Dodoy," a resident of Barangay Saog, Marilao.

Police said that Mangcoy is known as the source of illegal drugs in Barangay Saog and nearby villages.

Based on the report of Marilao police, they responded to the information given by concerned citizens and carefully monitored the activities of the suspect for a couple of weeks.

After they confirmed and verified the said report, they immediately conducted a buy-bust operation to arrest the suspect. Authorities said that after the consummated drug transaction around 2:55 a.m. on Feb. 18, the suspect engaged the arresting officer in a shootout which prompted the police to fire back, resulting in the suspect’s death.

Recovered from the suspect were 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of “shabu,” a cal. 22 revolver with serial no. 226, buy-bust money, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, a drug personality from Bonga Menor, Bustos was arrested early morning Friday (February 19), identified as Lincolne Tadeo alias "Kine/Bebe” in a buy-bust operation conducted by Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU). The police operatives confiscated 17 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing approximately four grams with an estimated value of P27,000.

Another 14 drug suspects, including five minors, were apprehended in a series of drug operations in Angat, San Jose del Monte, Pulilan, and Bulakan. Seized were 19 heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected “shabu,” five packs of dried marijuana leaves, and buy-bust money.
