Thanks to kind-hearted individuals and animal welfare groups as many animals were rescued from the island.

Horses, cows, and goats, among others, have found their forever homes a year after the calamity.

Among the animals rescued by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), which have found adopters that include businessman Fernando Zobel De Ayala, were 45 horses, four goats, and two cows.

PAWS said all the animals had to be evacuated from danger zones in under an hour when the Taal Volcano erupted in January 2020.

The animals were rescued with many suffering from respiratory problems and burn injuries from the volcanic eruption, PAWS said in a social media post in January, 2021.

"Thanks to all these wonderful people who opened their hearts and their homes (and haciendas) to animals who very much deserved a second chance at a good life," PAWS said in thanking the adopters of the rescued animals.

PAWS said that even though adoption figures have dipped for dogs and cats last year due to the limited mobility because of the community quarantine, the group is happy to have rehabilitated and re-homed the animals from Taal from a most dire situation to their forever homes.
