CEBU CITY—Another mayor from Cebu tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Ginatilan Mayor Dean Michael Singco is the ninth mayor from Cebu to contract the virus.

In a statement, Singco said he recently received confirmation that he and his wife, Hannah Singco, were infected with COVID-19.

“I am sad to inform everyone that me and my wife, Hannah, both tested positive for COVID-19,” he said.

The mayor said he and his wife decided to undergo a saliva test after Hannah started having fever last Friday.

The Singco couple has since been isolated in Cebu City.

The mayor said members of their households were immediately placed under quarantine and subject for swab tests.

Despite his absence, delivery of basic services in Ginatilan will not be hampered, Singco assures.

Meanwhile, former Cebu City Mayor Alvin Garcia and his wife Ninette were also found to be COVID-19 positive.

City Councilor Raymond Garcia said his father had minor symptoms while his mother was asymptomatic.
