Many arriving passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals are complaining that it takes a long time before they are transported to their hotels for a one-week quarantine.
In a Facebook post, a certain Chloe Miu Eriz said, “Grabe naman pala ngayon paghihintay ngayon dito para lang sa hotel verification & payment ng swab test aabutin ka ng mahigit 2 oras!..”
As this developed, Philippine Coast Guard Commander Edyson Abanilla said starting this month of February, arrival procedures at the NAIA have eased because the Coast Guard is no longer conducting swab tests based on a memorandum from the IATF.
Those who are not OFWs are only required to file an information form and “wait the process of swab test payment by the private laboratory and it is done.”
After six days in a quarantine hotel, the mobile swab team of PCG will be go to the hotel and if the passenger tests negative, he/she is immediately released.
The PCG mobile team is composed of 200 personnel with 17 vehicles and all of them are assigned in different facilities to conduct swab tests in Metro Manila.
