21 aspiring lifeguards trained for WASAR

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has facilitated a six-day water search and rescue (WASAR) training for 21 aspiring lifeguards in Magallanes, Agusan del Norte.

 The Coast Guard said the aspiring lifeguards performed rescue techniques including water entries and exits, underwater swimming, various swimming strokes, underwater knot tying, bottom sampling at 15 feet, and one-mile endurance swim.

The participants were also trained on the proper conduct of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.

The training was held from February 4 to 10.
