Magnitude 4.6 earthquake jolts Antique

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that a magnitude 4.6 earthquake rocked Barbaza in Antique on Friday evening, Feb. 12.

Based on the Earthquake Information No. 1 issued by Phivolcs, the earthquake was recorded 6:16 p.m. and traced its origin 23 kilometers southwest of Barbaza, Antique.

Phivolcs recorded Intensity II in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique; Intensity III in Sebaste, and, Valderrama, Antique; Intensity II in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique; and Intensity I – Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, Phivolcs said that there are no expected damage or aftershocks.

Phivolcs also reminded that the said bulletin will be the only one that will be issued “unless additional information becomes available.”

The public is also advised to “always refer to the latest earthquake information posted at the PHIVOLCS official website (https://www.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph).”
