The head of the Metro Manila police force opted to hone the firing skills of his men a few days before Valentine’s Day.
Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the firing skills are about the use of firearms through the two-day Valentine’s Marksmanship Challenge which started on Thursday, Feb. 11.
“As a unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day instead of conducting gatherings for the personnel, the NCRPO opted to initiate a challenge for their personnel,” Danao said in a statement released by the NCRPO.
“In this manner, they are not only showcasing their shooting skills but at the same time, they will be able to practice using their issued firearms necessary in performing their duties,” he added.
In pushing for the improvement of the Metro Manila cops’ shooting skills, Danao said that he made sure that what would be used are the service firearms of the policemen in order to further familiarize them with their own guns.
“I made it necessary that the firearms to be used today, is our issued firearms so that you will be familiarized with it.. In the end, winning is not the essence of this game but it is the love of the game itself,” said Danao.
The activity was attended by other top officials of the NCRPO.
