In regrowing kitchen scraps or planting herbs and small houseplants, you may want to consider window sills as a growing location that won’t take up much of your space.
Look for windows with sufficient light at home. Growing lights is also an option if needed. Use flower pots, seed trays, or repurposed containers, and make sure to poke holes under them for drainage. Put a saucer underneath to catch excess water.
Fill your chosen container with good potting soil. Sow the seeds and gently cover them with soil. Then, dampen them using a spray bottle just to keep the soil moist. Trim plants that require regular cutting like herbs for optimal growth and yield. Even if you do not need them, collect them and store the excess supply for later use. Lastly, use a humidifier when needed to prevent plants from drying out.
