16 stranded residents rescued from waist-deep flood in Palo, Leyte

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 16 residents of Palo town of Leyte who were stranded due to flooding.

In a statement, the PCG said those rescued were residents of Barangay Libertad and were trapped in their homes due to the flood caused by days of heavy downpour in the past days.

The Coast Guard station in Leyte and Tacloban dispatched their deployable response teams for augmentation.

The rescued residents were transported to Palo National High School where they are now temporarily staying.

Work and classes in Palo town remain suspended as 22 of the 33 barangays of the town were affected by the flooding.
