The Philippine Army (PA) honored on Wednesday, Feb. 10, the three soldiers who were killed in an encounter in Catanuan, Quezon last week.
The fallen soldiers of the 85th Infantry Batallion (851B) identified as 1Lt. Romeo Sabio Jr., Sgt. Helexor Arian Placido, and Cpl. John Paul Palangan were killed during a series of encounters against communist rebels in Sitio Hinapay, Barangay San Roque, Catanuan, Quezon on February 5.
“We honor their sacrifice, bravery, and heroism,” the Army said in a statement.
The Army also expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers.
The military report also identified the slain rebel leader as Ronnel Batarlo.
Recovered from him were an M16 rifle, M203 grenade launcher, bandolier, ammunition, and communication devices.
