23 overseas Filipinos succumb to COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday received reports of 23 new fatalities and two new cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) among overseas Filipinos.

No new recoveries were reported in the latest DFA tally. The department, however, did not specify the regions or countries where the new deaths and new cases were recorded. 

This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases and recoveries among our nationals abroad to 14,556 and 9,155, respectively.

Of the total, 4,424 are live cases or those undergoing treatment while the total fatalities since February last year is now at 977. 

Meanwhile, the DFA Consular Office in Lucena (CO Lucena) will be closed on Thursday, 11 February 2021 for disinfection of its office premises and implementation of other preventive measures to manage risks against COVID-19.

It will resume its regular operations on February 15, 2021.

Applicants with confirmed appointments who are unable to avail themselves of consular services due to the suspension of operations are directed to secure another appointment by emailing [email protected] with the following information:
Name, Date of Birth, Original appointment date and time, and Preferred date and time of new appointment.

The preferred new appointment may be on any working day (Monday to Friday) from 15 February to 14 March 2021 during the CO’s regular operation hours (10:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
