‘The Uncanny Counter,’ ‘Mr. Queen’ place in top 10 favorite TV shows in January

The hit dramas “The Uncanny Counter,” “Mr. Queen” and “The Penthouse” placed in the top 10 favorite TV programs in South Korea in January.
Gallup Korea held a nationwide survey on Jan. 19 to 21 among 1,000 respondents aged 18 and above and asked them to pick their favorite TV shows.

With the trot fever raging in South Korea, “Miss Trot 2” and “Romantic Call Centre,” two TV shows focusing on the Korean music genre, topped the survey.

““Miss Trot 2” placed first among the respondents with 10.8 percent followed by “Romantic Call Centre” with 5.4 percent. The two shows are on TV Chosun.

Top Korean TV entertainer Yoo Jae-suk’s “Hangout with Yoo” on MBC grabbed third place with 5.2 percent.

OCN’s “The Uncanny Encounter,” which aired its last episode on Jan. 24 with a rating of 10.99 percent, placed fourth in the survey with 4.6 percent.

“Yoo Quiz on the Block,” another show of Yoo Jae-suk, placed fifth with 3.8 percent.

Here are the top 10 favorite TV shows in South Korea in January:

  7. “Mr. Queen” (drama, tvN) - 3.2 percent
  8. “Homemade Love Story” (drama, KBS2) - 3.1 percent
  9. “Man in a Veil” (drama, KBS2) - 2.8 percent
  10. “Ppong School” (variety show, TV Chosun) - 2.6 percent

“The Penthouse” (drama, SBS) - 2.6 percent
