Malacañang has declared February 13 as a special non-working holiday in Parañaque City in relation to its cityhood anniversary.

Under Proclamation 1096, posted on Parañaque City’s Facebook page, it stated that February 13, Saturday will mark the celebration of its 23rd Cityhood Anniversary.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of Parañaque be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with proper ceremonies, subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures,” the proclamation read.

In its past celebrations, Mayor Edwin Olivarez scheduled several activities to mark the occasion including a photo exhibit, medical and dental missions, and a job fair.

There is also the Sunduan Festival,  which was first staged in 2014. The term “sunduan” comes from the word “sundo” meaning “to fetch,” showcasing an old courtship custom of waiting for one’s lady love, accompanying her to the town plaza before bringing her home.
