“This is the story of a boy with scissors for hands.” Sounds pretty familiar, right? But it is not quite exactly the same as you think.

Luxury car brand Cadillac introduces its Lyriq, its latest model with a hands-free feature, by reimagining the Tim Burton film “Edward Scissorhands” in an ad. But instead of the suburbs favorite weird hairdresser perfectly played by Johnny Depp, its ad focuses on the next gen Scissorhands, his son Edgar Scissorhands.

“Call Me By Your Name” star Timothée Chalamet portrays the love product of Edward and his blonde sweetheart Kim Boggs, which actress Winona Ryder brings back to life again in the ad. Though many know that the two lovers never saw each other again, the ad puts a new twist on the 1990 cult classic, and fans are loving it.

“It’s rare when a work you’re proud of continues to live on and evolve with the times, even after 30 years,” Tim Burton said in a statement. “I’m glad to see Edgar coping with the new world! I hope both fans and those being introduced to Edward Scissorhands for the first time enjoy it.”

After the year that was 2020, Cadillac wanted to show humor and nostalgia on its Super Bowl ad, which are encapsulated in Edgar’s world. “We love the creative concept of Super Cruise and the LYRIQ opening up Edgar’s world and bringing confidence to his daily life,” Melissa Grady, Cadillac chief marketing officer, tells Vanity Fair. “At a time when people are looking for an escape from the challenges of the past year, it was a privilege to revisit the beloved story of Edward Scissorhands in a fresh, modern way and showcase Cadillac’s electric future during the biggest game of the year.”

Well, here’s to hoping to see an “Edward Scissorhands” sequel in the future!
