This cocktail is the love potion we need this Valentine's season

It is time to feel the 'spirit' of romance

In ancient times, mortals prayed to particular deities for guidance and wishes, even for a companion. They went to the gods' temples with offerings to help them be enlightened and direct them to the right path. In the Hindu culture, there is one god to go to for love concerns, Kamaveda. That's where homegrown brand Sahan got inspiration for its very first vodka mix called Kama Love Potion.

Perfect for this season of romance, the cocktail is a mixture of roselle, Absolut vodka, soda water, and the brand's signature "kilig" nectar, which is infused with oxalis, peppercorn, lemon, butterfly pea.

"The drink was inspired by Kamaveda, the Hindi god of love and desire. The word 'Kama' is actually Sanskrit for 'desire, wish, or longing'—so we thought it was the perfect fit for the most romantic day of the year," Kai Yulo of Sahan tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. "The Kama is subtly sweet, playful, and almost floral in aroma. It's brought to life by roselle (hibiscus flower) paired with our 'kilig' nectar, making the perfect drink to celebrate love as Valentine's draws closer."

Established last 2020, Sahan is known for its DIY cocktail kits that champions Filipino flavors and produce. Through its product, the brand was able to help public school students in rural areas by supplying them with educational kits to aim them with their at-home classes. This initiative also continues with the brand's latest creation.

"The best part? P50 for each cocktail sold goes to the learning kits we create and send to public school kids with Teach for the Philippines," she says.

The Kama Love Potion cocktail is available at Kashmir restaurant, 3rd flr. of One Boni, in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, and is "best enjoyed with a loved one on the terrace, accompanied by the evening breeze."
