Domagoso said funds that were originally allocated for building roads will instead be used to provide food and jobs to Manila residents.

“Lahat tayo ay may sikmura. Mahirap, middle class, mayaman. Ang kalsada, wala. Kaya marami  tayong isinakripisyong kalsada para ma-address ang needs ng mga tao (All of us have stomachs. The poor, middle class, and the rich. Roads don’t. That’s why we sacrificed a lot of roads to address the people’s needs),” he told reporters on Monday.

In December 2020, the World Bank reported that 2.7 Filipinos will plunge into poverty due to the pandemic.
