A barangay personnel and three others in Antipolo City are facing charges after their fraudulent attempt to claim cash aid through the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
In a Facebook post, Mayor Andrea Ynares said the barangay official from Barangay Mambugan and his three accomplices forged documents such as birth certificates and IDs to be able to claim financial assistance.
Ynares said the plan of the four residents were foiled with the help of the City Social Welfare Department (CSWD) and Starpay.
Aside from facing charges, the barangay official, who was identified as the mastermind of the scheme, was immediately fired from his post.
The city government had earlier warned of to charge and expose individuals who will pose as qualified amelioration claimants despite being ineligible to receive the cash assistance.
