'TV Patrol' star patroller Ganiel Krishnan screens for Miss World Philippines

As screening for this year’s search for the Philippine representative for the Miss World Pageant kicked-off, members of the pageant media were pleasantly surprised to see one of their colleagues joining in the battle for the right to represent the country in the London-based pageant.

ABS-CBN Star Patroller Ganiel Krishnan came in a stunning navy blue ensemble that made her a clear standout among the ladies who screened today, Feb. 4.

Asked what made her take the risk of joining a pageant at this time, the 5’5’’ beauty simply said: “I just think I’m ready for the world.  Ibang laban ito.  I think I can conquer the world at this time.”  This is not the first time that she is joining a big pageant.  Prior to joining ABS-CBN, Krishnan joined Miss Manila and Mutya ng Pilipinas, where she won the top crowns.

At 26, Krishnan is already being given generous airtime in the Kapamilya network where she gets to anchor TV Patrol’s Star News segment from time to time.  Wouldn’t her candidacy dim her shine as a news anchor? “It shouldn’t. My being a broadcast journalist remains to be my core even as I get myself into pageantry. It is even the main basis of my advocacy going into the pageant,” she said.

In her quest to win for the Philippines its second blue crown, Krishnan even thinks her experiences as a filed reporter and news anchor will definitely serve her in good stead.

“As they say, I’m a vanguard of truth and justice as a journalist.  I think I’m prepared naman na ipakita yan sa mga tao.  And since, Miss World is known for its “Beauty with a Purpose” platform, I’d say providing the people with the truth is a huge and real purpose I can actually stand for if in case I win the crown,” the young broadcast journalist declared.

So far, the Philippines has won the Miss World crown only once, in 2013, through the victory of actress Megan Young.
