Actress Evan Rachel Wood recently revealed shock rocker Marilyn Manson has abused her during their time in a relationship.

In an Instagram post, the “Across The Universe” actress said: “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

Wood had a relationship with Warner between 2006 and 2010.

Before her post early this week, Wood already told in a Rolling Stone interview back in 2016 that she had been raped twice “many years ago” by a “significant other” and another time by a bar owner. Wood has since advocated for survivors of rape and abuse and has even spoken at the U.S. House subcommittee investigations in support of Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act.

After Wood’s post, three more women came out alleging Manson’s abuse. Several high-profile personalities have since weighed in with their opinions. Among them actress Rose MacGowan who also had a relationship before with Manson, said she was proud of Wood but stopped short of confirming Wood’s claims on Manson’s character. And in a recent Rolling Stone article, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails also rebuked Manson when the former’s name was dragged into the controversy via a resurfaced account from Manson’s autobiography that “he and Reznor sexually and physically assaulted an inebriated woman in the nineties” said the Rolling Stone article.

Reznor has since issued this statement on online music outlet Pitchfork. “I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoir is a complete fabrication. I was infuriated and offended back when it came out and remain so today.”

The backlash on Marilyn Manson was swift. The music label that carried his recent album releases dropped the rock music artist and has discontinued any associations with Manson.

Manson has also taken to social media to defend his name saying that the accusations hurled against him are “horrible distortions of reality.”
