Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested on Monday in a buy-bust operation a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairman in Sta. Rita, Samar for possession of illegal drugs.
The PDEA regional office identified the suspect as Bryan Pacaanas, 23, SK chairman of Bouganvilla village in Sta. Rita town and listed as one of the high-value targets (HVT) by PDEA Eastern Visayas.
Confiscated during the operation were two sachets of 5.13 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of PHP34,938, PDEA said in a report sent to the media on Tuesday.
Pacaanas is the third HVT nabbed by PDEA agents in Eastern Visayas in its recent operations.
On Jan. 26, Henri Belchus, a village watchman, was arrested in this city for possession of three sachets of shabu.
On Jan. 27, Joseph Escabarta, a disc jockey was arrested for carrying three sachets of shabu in Carigara, Leyte.
All suspects are now detained at the PDEA regional detention facility. They will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
