“The PCG cannot stand alone. If we want to succeed in our efforts, we have to work together with the national government, fellow uniformed services, and other stakeholders. We have to implement our initiatives in a holistic approach to ultimately address lawless violence and effectively serve others,” Ursabia said in a statement on Tuesday.
During the oath-taking and donning ceremonies on Jan. 25, Ursabia encouraged 32 Coast Guard officers promoted to the next higher rank of Lieutenant Commander to become “Ambassadors of Goodwill” by always finding ways to serve the fellow countrymen.
“Many are called, but only few are chosen. You are the chosen few. There is a purpose why out of the many who applied, only the 32 of you are promoted,” Ursabia said.
“There is a corresponding mission for you to undertake — to be instruments of God at the frontline. Gentlemen and ladies, commit to serve others with humility and compassion,” he added.
