Parishes in Quezon City to serve as COVID-19 vaccination sites

Big parishes will serve as vaccination sites in Quezon City once the local government rolls out its coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination program.

According to the local government, the Diocese of Novaliches, led by Most Rev. Fr. Roberto Gaa, expressed its commitment to Mayor Joy Belmonte to extend its support for the local government's drive.

Belmonte said that the church's "strong support" in the government's fight against the pandemic "will definitely help raise the confidence and trust of our people in vaccination."

The local government said, there will be 15 parishes in Novaliches alone, which the city can use for the vaccination drive.

It added that the "Diocese also agreed to use KyusiPass, the city's contact tracing application, in their parishes to help the city in its contact tracing efforts."

"Malaki ang impact kapag nakiisa ang simbahan sa mga ganitong programa ng pamahalaan lalo na sa mga parishioner (It will bring a huge impact when the church participates in this kind of program, especially to its parishioners). The Diocese is always willing to help the city especially if it is for the common good of the community," Diocese of Novaliches Vicar General Fr. Tony Labiao Jr said.
