Fugitive NPA rebel killed in clash with gov’t troops in Isabela

ISABELA – A New People’s Army (NPA) rebel, who had been in hiding for 13 years for double murder, was killed in a firefight with the military and police in San Agustin, Isabela, on Tuesday, January 26.

Renato Busania, who was also known as Andong, Ace and Narding, died after he reportedly shot it out with operatives from the 86th Infantry Battalion (86th IB), 205th Maneuver, San Agustin Police and other law enforcement units, who were trying to arrest him.

Busania, a regional military staff member of the Kilusang Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley, was wanted for double murder based on a warrant of arrest issued by a regional trial court (RTC) in Echague, Isabela.

Another warrant of arrest for double murder was issued by an RTC branch in Maddela, Quirino last November 4, 2019.

Busania was rushed to the nearest hospital, but was pronounced dead on-arrival by the attending physician.

Authorities recovered a caliber-.45 and a grenade from the suspect.
