Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Tuesday led the city’s simulation exercise for its upcoming coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination program at one of the city’s future vaccination centers.
The exercise, which was held at Malinta Elementary School, one of the city’s 17 designated COVID-19 vaccination centers, was done in a bid to build the “confidence” of the residents in the vaccine.
“Gusto naming ipakita sa lokal na mamamayan namin na the local government not only purchased but moreso pinagaaralan natin yung rollout… Ayaw natin na nandiyan na ‘yung bakuna tsaka lang natin pa-planuhin lahat ito (We want to show our constituents that we did not only purchase the vaccine but also studied its rollout. We don’t want to make plans only after it arrives),” Gatchalian said.
As the city allotted P150 million for the purchase of upcoming COVID-19 vaccine, the mayor said that he also does not want the said amount to go to waste. Therefore, doing simulation will help the local government determine the “potential problems” that may arise.
According to the local government, the process of confirmation of registration at the vaccination centers to vaccination itself will take around 12 to 15 minutes.
After that, inoculated residents will proceed to the post-vaccination area for observation and monitoring for at least 30 minutes. They will be supervised by the city’s health officers.
They will then receive a “VCVax Passport” which indicates their next vaccination schedule.
