BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – Riding the crest of President Duterte’s high approval and trust ratings, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador S. In a dinner-fellowship hosted by Mayor Cesar T. Quiambao that was attended by prominent Pangasinan political leaders on January 23, Panelo said the Duerte-Duterte tandem has no legal impediment.

He said President Duterte can still run for vice president when his term expires in 2022. “The issue here is the continuity of Duterte leadership,” Panelo pointed out.

Panelo’s move was circulated among the Pangasinan media by the staff of Presidential Adviser for Northern Luzon Secretary Raul L. Lambino on Monday, January 25.

Panelo explained that President Duterte exhibited strong political will to implement economic reforms, and as well as his campaign against illegal drugs, corruption, criminality, insurgency and poverty.

“That is why up to this time, our President consistently enjoys very high approval and trust ratings,” he added.

Panelo expressed confidence that the daughter-father tandem will be acceptable to Filipinos.

“This is no longer new to us. The daughter of President Diosdado Macapagal became President in the person of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The son of President Corazon Aquino, in the person of Benigno Aquino III became also our President,” the chief legal counsel further explained.

Panelo was in Bayambang town as a guest speaker at a public forum dubbed “Rebolusyong Duterte. Revolutionary Government” held at the Municipal Event Center.

Among the Pangasinan leaders who expressed their strong support for the Duterte-Duterte tandem in the coming 2022 elections included Lambino, Pangasinan fifth district Rep. Ramon Guico III, Abono Partylist Rep. Conrad Estrella III, Vice Governor Mark Lambino, Board Members Von Mark Mendoza (second district), Vici Ventanilla (third district), Louie Sison (fifth District), Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste, Mayors Roldan Sagles (Aguilar), Anthony Penulliar (Mapandan), Joel delos Santos (Sta. Barbara), Martin Raul Sison II (Urbiztondo), Noel Geslani (Malasiqui), Rosita Rafael (Natividad), Julio ‘Rammy’ Parayno (Urdaneta City), Sangguniang Bayan Members of Bayambang, and other civic leaders.
