Pinoy superhero musical ‘Manhid’ is now streaming online for free
This is a stage play to watch when you’re in dire need of hero action

Ever wondered what could’ve happened if the EDSA revolution failed? Well, this musical is serving just that with a touch of superhero action.
Inspired by comic book superheroes and local folklore, Manhid: The Pinoy Superhero Musical presents warriors such as Lam-ang, Alunsina, Urduja, Apolaki, among others, battling villains, and helping people sick with kamanhiran (apathy) in an alternate present-day Philippines.
The 2015 Ballet Philippines production was directed by Paul Alexander Morales and penned by Kanakan-Balintagos, and Vincent de Jesus and Carina Evangelista as co-composer.
Fans of the musical know that the musical was performed at the University of the Philippines – Diliman almost three decades ago. The 1992 run of the musical featured a performance from the band The Eraserheads, who helped compose the music for the stage show, one of which is the hit “Kailan.”
So if you’re binge-watching Marvel movies or streaming the dark and dingy universe of DC films but yet you still want more hero action, then this musical is the one to see.
