Cops seize P3.2-million worth of shabu in Iloilo


ILOILO CITY – Police authorities seized P3.2-million worth of shabu in anti-illegal drug operation in Oton town, Iloilo province, Thursday night.

Police Regional Office (PRO-6) identified the suspect as Elmer Sumpio Niquia, who was collared in a buy-bust operation by elements of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU) and Oton Municipal Police Staiton.

Niquia, who is from Iloilo City and temporarily resides in Oton town, initially sold two plastic pieces of shabu worth P20,000 to an undercover cop.

And when he was arrested, the suspect also yielded 200 grams of shabu. In all, the shabu confiscated from him was worth P3.2 million.

Niquia is facing charges of violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, PRO-6 Director Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda vowed that curbing illegal drug trade will remain as one of the top priorities in Western Visayas region this year.

“We will be conducting more operations targeting high-valued drug personalities,” added Miranda.
