The Philippines’ oldest bishop passed away on Thursday, January 21.

CBCP News said Bishop Jose Sorra of Legazpi died around midnight at the age of 91.
“He passed away around midnight due to respiratory failure secondary to pulmonary embolism,” said Legazpi Bishop Joel Baylon.
“We ask for your prayers for his eternal rest,” he added.
Bishop Sorra was ordained a priest for the diocese in 1956 and was appointed bishop of Virac in 1974.
In 1993, he was named the fourth bishop of Legazpi, where he served until his retirement in 2005.
