Caraga tallies 56 new COVID cases

BUTUAN CITY – Northeastern Mindanao or the Caraga region recorded 56 new coronavirus disease cases with six deaths Thursday.


Health authorities appealed to Caraganons to continue “without let up” the strict adherence to all health protocols as cases of the deadly virus continue to rise.

The regional office of the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DoH-CHD) based here said of the 56 new cases, 17 are from Agusan del Sur, 12 are from Surigao del Norte, seven are from Tandag City, six are from Butuan City, four are from Bayugan City, four are from Surigao del Sur, three are from Agusan del Norte, two are from Bislig City, and one from Surigao City.

The DoH-CHD recorded six new deaths from the deadly virus.

Caraga region now has 5,491 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 638 active cases, 249 deaths, and 4,604 recoveries.

Of the 56 new cases, one is critical, four severe, 12 have mild symptoms, and 36 are asymptomatic.

Forty of them were local transmission cases, four with travel history from an area with local transmission, and 12 with no history of travel to an area with known local transmission or exposure to COVID-19.

Thirty two were male and 24 were female with the youngest at 11-years-old and the oldest at 80-years-old.
