The construction of a farm-to-market road (FMR) in Barangay Dulian, Zamboanga City is now 50 percent complete, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Wednesday.
In a statement, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said upon completion, the FMR will provide "easy access to agricultural goods and basic services to the residents of Barangay Dulian."
DPWH Region 9 Director Cayamombao Dia said project involves concreting of a 740 lineal meter road with 5-meter width, implemented by Zamboanga District Engineering Office.
Since Barangay Dulian is situated on a hilly and mountainous area, the department said, the FMR should provide a safer and more efficient transport of goods to and from the market.
With an allocation of P11.8 million, the project is expected to be completed on March 2021.
Meanwhile, the DPWH also announced that it has constructed a 200 lineal meter dike along Bicol River Basin in Barangay Taban, Minalabac, Camarines Sur.
Villar said the completed dike would prevent scouring of soil along river banks and reduce the hazards and risks of property damage.
“The dike also serves as a point of entry for local farmers and fisherfolks, and tourism activities of the municipality hosted by different local government agencies," he said.
Scope of works include construction of 0.2 kilometer dike along Libmanan River with 2.5 meter wide portland concrete cement pavement all throughout the span, 398 meters of railing along the structure, with provision of drainage structures and slope protection.
The project was implemented by Camarines Sur 2nd District Engineering Office in the amount of P44.8 million.
