P19.2-million worth of marijuana burned in Benguet


CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – More plantations were discovered in different sites in Benguet province, where more than P19.2 million in marijuana plants were uprooted and destroyed in separate raids conducted by the Police Regional Office – Cordillera (PROCOR).

PROCOR Director Brig. Gen. R'win Pagkalinawan said the regional office’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs continued to gain grounds following the discovery of seven plantation sites, and the arrest of six drug personalities in Benguet from January 10 to January 16.

In Kibungan, 62,170 fully grown marijuana plants, 125 kilos of marijuana seedlings, and 30 kilos of dried marijuana stalks, estimated to be worth P16.039 million, were eradicated by the Benguet Provincial Police Office (PPO).

Then in a separate operation in Bakun town, operatives of the Benguet PPO discovered 16,150 fully grown marijuana plants, with an estimated value of P3.23 million, in different sites in Barangay Kayapa. These, too, were uprooted and burned.

Pagkalinawan said the Benguet PPO was also able to arrest six drug personalities identified as Amiel Guile Gutierrez Eligores, Rasmia Ebra Balang, Sharon Galuba Lorenzana, Rommel Cabrera Lagera, Jojit Azucena Tesion, and Hazel Mae Guiles Dogcio in buy-bust operations conducted by the police stations under the Benguet PPO.
