DFA tally: 48 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths, 55 recoveries


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday reported 48 new COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases, six new fatalities, and 55 new recoveries among overseas Filipinos.

This latest tally brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections among Filipinos abroad to 13,591. Of this total, 3,968 are undergoing treatment, 8,682 have fully recovered or have been discharged from various hospitals worldwide, and 941 died due to the disease.

To date, the total number of countries and territories with confirmed cases among Filipinos remains at 84.

For most of the months since the outbreak of the pandemic in February last year, the Middle East and Africa remain as the combined regions with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos with 7,837. 

The Foreign Affairs office assured the public that along with its Foreign Service Posts worldwide, it will continue to partner with host governments to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipino nationals abroad amidst the global health crisis.
